When looking at a package of triple needles, there are two numbers at the bottom. The first numbers, on the left side (2.5, 3.0, etc.) always refer to the distance between the two needles. The larger the number, the more distance between the two needles.

The second number, on the right side of the package (80, 90, 100, etc.), refers to how thick the actual needles are. Like regular needles, the larger the number the thicker the needle. The thicker the needle the thicker the fabric that you gonna use.
